Are there any books or interview prep material which are more beginner friendly/structured or something easier than CTCI: Cracking the coding interview? My friend whom I am mentoring just graduated from a bootcamp and I am helping in interview prep. He started with leetcode easy but is having a hard time with it. I think something more structured like CTCI will help better but CTCI might be a little too much to start with. Please no hate toward non cs degree people trying to get into tech for better life. Also no hate towards people who are just starting out and and find leetcode intermediating. #tech #jobs #interviews #interviewquestions TC: 380k.
There’s some great books and online courses for learning data structures out there. If they’re using python I believe there’s some popular books like “problem solving with algorithms and data structures using python” that can ease them into it. Interview cake has a free intro to data structures that’s easy to follow as well. Best of luck to your friend!
If it’s someone with no CS background, they might have to look at basic courses on coursera, udacity, youtube etc to be able to visualize and understand what various DS are and their commonly used operations and even some real world use cases. Memory management intro might also help. Maybe a few days/weeks of this and they can start CTCI or any of the coding resources.
That is very nice of you to support and mentor your friend! I wish I had a good friend or mentor like you. I've been trying different interview prep material for the past 3 years but I give up very early when it starts getting challenging. Some beginner friendly resources: Runstone Academy - Python DS Abdul Bari YouTube - Algorithms

Interview cake
I come from a non CS background and have been working in the industry for a few years now. When I first started preparing for interviews, I found interviewcake really helpful. Detailed explanations and code examples.
