I interviewed for a Data Scientist/Data Engineer (VP) role for Finance. But the formal offer letter just mentioned it as VP in the Administration division. Wondering if Finance comes under Administration division? Any thoughts on the offer? Base: Negotiated from 170 to 200k Bonus: No guaranteed bonus - discretionary & pro-rated based on performance. Sign-On: 30k No relocation assistance was provided (moving from TX) Location: NYC YOE: 6 Education: Masters #morganstanley #goldmansachs #nyc #compensation #salary #salarynegotiation
Why not ask for more base so you’ll be good with bonus going either way
This is ignorant, but does finance industry just hand out VP titles? In tech, VPs are certainly clearing 500k+. Seems like they’re undervaluing you from the comp package alone, if they want you to do VP level work
VP doesn’t mean much in banking, its given to many people.
Their titles are different, vp level candidates end as sr engineer
I just had a very comparable (albeit slightly better) offer from JPM. I think you could get more but be prepared to walk away if you try. I wanted ~$11k more after further review of the other benefits. I second guess myself each of the last 3 days that I made a mistake not taking it. But, something tells me the higher they make you in the 'band' on salary, the shittier they will forcefully make your bonus each year. So I walked.
Infact most people like to get paid better base than bonus?
