Yoe: 9 SWE Interviewed at Morgan Stanley for the role of VP Completed all rounds with good feedback. Selected. They decided to offer the role of Senior Manager. Also I will have to relocate to Mumbai from Pune. I am disappointed after knowing the role. Need your suggestions Update current 27 CTC Offered: TC 40 LPA
Need few inputs. Ur current TC , Did you counter any offer. Offered TC
I don't have a counter offer. Really hoping for the VP role but got downplayed as a senior manager
Seeking advice without giving TC?
Updated the details. Can you suggest anything now ?
So is your disappointment with the designation or the compensation or work location or the nature of work? Given the location is Pune, I trust you'll save much more than in Mumbai. So compensation seems okay unless you think you were grossly underpaid previously (in which case you really should try to get more offers).
I guess mostly people who have stayed at Morgan Stanley for long reach VP in 9 years of exp otherwise people coming from outside generally need 10+ yoe to get VP directly.
Ok. But throughout the interview they portrayed it as a VP position. And suddenly now telling SM role. They are saying role is SM but you will work as a tech lead. I have seen people with 5 Yoe as SMs in Morgan. Can I push them for VP role. Also can you tell a bit about Salary offered? If not the role atleast I can hope to get better TC
Yes the positions are like this. There can be a VP reporting to another VP or same with SM. So all senior managers or VP are not at the same level even if they have same job title.
Dont go to MS at 9 yoe. 6 yoe grads make VP. And also Sr Manager to VP is a tough process with lot of thorns. Dm me if you want more info.
Only fresh grads who have been with MS from start make VP in 7-8 years afaik
Thats what I said. Grads. Grads means TAP grads.
I moved from 27 to 65 at PayPal give some more interviews, get counters! Pune is a depressed market, Mumbai is even worse btw: A Sr Manager from MS joined as a SWE II when I was at Rocket - he had ~7 yoe For SE II I don't think they go more than ~35 lpa, 40 lakhs seems a good deal considering they are hiring you at Sr Manager level
The HR kept degrading the offer over call for 2-3 days. Every call she made the tc was reduced. Final offered 36 base. I was furious. She never made me a formal offer (in an email) All number were discussed over a call and wanted immediate feedback. Was sick and tired of continuous offer degradation. VP to SM not paying salary. Offer getting reduced each day over a call.
She fucked you, and you didn't even realize
Don't join as SM, it's a non officer role and the convertion to officer role which is VP is pain in the a$$ due to their process. Ask for VP at first shot and move in work wise it would be same and heard that VP level bonus and hike are always better than below grades
Yes I rejected the offer she gave me. She was shocked to know that I a rejecting the offer. And said will match my profile for other open positions in MS.
