Has anyone move to the European tech sector from the US tech sector? I'm thinking to move to Germany but I've heard you could be getting a decent pay cut? Anyone done this before?
Moved from Europe tech to US .. one of the best things I did
Same here. Europe is good for WLB but if you care about your career in tech there's no comparison.
US is the best for TC
Do you like TC or do you like lots of holidays?
Don’t be silly, most tech companies have a unlimited vacation.
Sure they do.
Germany != US, due to language. If you are serious about your move, learn at-least A2 level German (read, write, listen & speak), preferably before moving. You will be much more comfortable & mentally at peace.
I am fluent in German and I know TC won't be what I'm getting here, but I'm wondering if it's 10% less, 20% less...30%??
From Bay Area? 50%
Lol good luck. Lots of sr engineers making 65k
Yup. About 50% less generally. WLB Is great but TC is incomparable.
Aghh 50% is a lot I think I would have been ok with an average 20%-30%
For senior levels it’s more like 1/3rd or a quarter
Moved from Europe to the US. The best decision of my life in terms of TC, growth, fairness, and access to senior engineers.
Good luck!
