Currently Solutions Architect at AWS. Want to try something else so am considering move to Azure. Advice on roles I should apply to? I think the Azure team is weird - they have Solutions expert, technology solutions professional and SA roles. Can't figure out the difference. Anyone here hiring/part of these teams who would like to chat/advise? Keen on moving as soon as possible. YoE: <3 years TC: 170K
I think it could be a great career for sometime at least because a large number of orgs are moving to cloud.i personally want to get into Product, so am figuring out next steps.
Why are u keen on moving ASAP?
I think H1b transfer is going to be long and painful, so if I do change, I want to try to get my application in as soon as possible.
CSA is assigned to specific customer and focussed on long term strategy of that customer. TSP is similar role but floats to where the need is. Both are focussed on solution design. The roles should be around for a while for the reasons you stated above.
Are you a part of the teams orKnow anyone hiring ? Would love to understand more.
There are a million open CSA positions. Some in a region assigned long term to big clients, some national that float around a bit, some under commercial business that do strategic competes. All similar but slightly different.
Stay in Amazon, tc is lower, politics are very bad at MS
Did you end up moving to MS? Funny that I'm looking to move exactly in the opposite direction, from SRE in Azure Engineering to AWS Solutions Architect.
I can't answer your question but I've been looking into moving from a lead dev role to a SA at AWS. Do you see more tech people there or does it feel more like sales? Does it feel like a long term career?
It's a tech role, but obviously not as technical as SDE. The role is about understanding customer needs and delivering outcomes.
