I'm relocating to India permanently in couple of months due to personal reasons. Can you please me with the following questions 1. I want to keep my chase bank account, does chase bank support international address? have anyone been operating chase account outside USA? In case not, Is there any alternative to chase bank ? 2. I have moved my stocks from Robinhood to Fidelity. I will maintain my traditional 401k as it is. I plan to keep my investments in these and sell some every month, and transfer money to an Indian bank account. I checked with Fidelity and they support international address. Any gotchas here? Any other suggestions? #movetoindia #tech #investments
Can we also keep buying and selling in US brokerage account after leaving US?
Yes, stocks and ETFs are fine. Mutual funds are disallowed for some reason.
Chase supports India address. I even get my credit cards delivered here without a problem. Fidelity is also fine. Don't forget to file w8ben once you move back so that you get taxed correctly.
Tax gets complicated otherwise everything else is fine.
Taxation for the stock sale profit you made from there would be tricky
Nothing very tricky. If your status is NRI or rnor, the Indian government doesn't tax you on capital gains otherwise the same rules apply as resident indians.
What is rnor?
Are you moving with a job? Or did you just quit? I would call chase bank, I don't think they support it, I enquired myself reg. This at Citibank and they do Reg. Stocks it's good, I am planning to do the same, you can even leave for 30yrs and withdraw then
Dont have a job in India, taking a break. Thanks
