Last time I checked with Fidelity, they have a policy for users to operate account from outside of US. Robinhood did not have that policy. Things might have changed now. I am a us citizen living in india. Why is it not legal? My limited understanding is there is no residential status requirements or citizenship requirements for investing in US stock market . The only hairy part is the tax to be paid for global income in india. But that can be claimed via DTAA from US
