Anyone else made a similar transition from a more traditional company to a newer automotive vehicle company? Are there any benefits to this type of transition? Would you recommend it? How's cruise's culture? Also what's the average salary for entry level SWE @ Cruise in SF?
What position? Depends on that
Depends on how you look at the opportunity and your background. It's an investment.
Switched from Honda to Zoox last month. It takes quite an adjustment for sure
Adjustment for sure. You can be exceptional at what you do in your role at Honda, but doesn't mean you're going to be exceptional at Zoox. That goes without saying.
I'm in the process of doing the same move so I'm curious to hear which departments to avoid at Cruise.
I would avoid whole Cruise if possible

Cruise has its own ups and downs. It could do a better management for sure. People are too reactive to shit. Sometimes just need to calm down and understand the problem before making a decision.
Cruise is toxic, everyone knows this, come on.
How do you know?
Different in different parts of the company, and any company trying to do something this hard and unknown is going to feel like a pressure-cooker to some, but I’ve been extremely impressed with culture and management here.
