TC: 110k For those of you that have transitioned to more strategy and operations related positions—curious to see how that transition has been for you.

TC will take a hit. Only do it if such roles/work interests you.

Yep, agreed.

I did it, from tech role (Data Science) to non-tech (Product Strategy). TC took about a 30% hit (mostly in RSUs), but I’ve been loving what I’m doing at Facebook. Growth is promising, and I should be able to make up for the lost TC with faster growth and higher level.

If you want to land a good strategy role, it’s a competitive/expensive/high risk path, use consulting and MBA as stepping stones TC: 245k

Transitioned from IC design to Strategy. Been a great experience. Would recommend to find a team/boss who is willing to groom you. This is more valuable than a MBA degree.
