I am a recently promoted Senior Manager in the Strategy and Operations practice with a heavy focus on fintech and Salesforce implementation (requirements gathering/prioritization, user stories, roadmaps, stakeholder management, market research, etc) and wanted to get your advice and guidance how you would position yourself for a PM role? TC: 170k
Its so hard- I did some tech implementation as well and got reached out by recruiters at FAANG for PM role without even trying - this was 2021. I felt like I may not have the overall PM experience and jargon under my belt so tried product role within current firm to apply a year later outside. Now a year later when I have actual product launch under my belt, no response to applications nor response from Recruiters- half of whom I was in contact are laid off. Market is brutal. I would recommend trying but also trying to see if there are product specific roles at KPMG while you are looking out. Also getting yourself familiar with PM ceremonies, jargon , post release management etc. A lot of the requirement gathering align with tech implementation but as opposed to passing along to IT , you are in the product - testing it - enhancing it etc which you can use as leverage/ talking point.
Thanks for this, very helpful! Yeah timing seems bad but guess we will have to work with what we got.
the tech PM gold rush ended bro, u missed the boat all of our tech pm roles require a hands-on tech background
