Software engineers, Has anyone moved to big Asian companies in US then moved to other US companies successfully? Examples are Hitachi, Samsung, Alaibaba, Huawei and Nintendo. I am wondering about the impact on my resume and future job opportunities in case I move to one of these companies for two to three years for better comp and role (e.g., more impactful work and title upgrade). If you are a hiring manager or recruiter (or interviewer) will you have more scrutiny over this resume then staying at Microsoft throughout career?
Coming back to us won't be easy as there are 10s of thousands of people trying to move to US from Asia
I knew people at Google who went to Baidu. When Baidu rolled back their US investments, they moved back to Google or to FB, Bing etc.
If you are good, you won't have a problem. There is enough of a talent shortage that you should be fine. Given rate of growth outside the US, I'm surprised you don't decide to move overseas unless the company has terrible culture. You always get more opportunities when the pie is expanding fast
Is the premise of the question that Americans tend to look down on successful non American companies? If so, wow.
