Is it worth the move? Recruiter reached out to me to schedule interviews but I am debating whether I should even bother. It seems like you get faster raises and better pay, and they are the hottest employer in the DFW area at the moment. Tech stacks at Toyota are the same though. Upside to Toyota is wfh flexibility, no layoffs or PIPs (basically stability of a govt job), wlb, great culture. TC 145 yoe 4
I would refuse to work for any employer that requires a college degree, like C1.
But if you have one it isn’t a factor anymore
Sure it’s a factor. You’d be working for a company with outdated ideals.
Quality of teams and managers varies wildly, FS tech (Auto loans) is the worst while Card Tech is considered the best unit to work for just fyi
CapOne is an H1B shop (if you are in IT) and is notorious for frequent layoffs and reorgs. Stay at Toyota.
if you think you will have a decent WLB st capital 1 .. same or similar to Toyota then please do so If not and if WLB is impt then stay at Toyota but don’t take it easy on yourself.. look to expand your knowledge .. volunteer projects at Toyota or outside (volunteer)…. I personally find it difficult to get motivated to expand my knowledge unless I have a hard goals (saying this cause I don’t want to sound like someone who has it all figured out 🤪 But ultimately do what you like best
Be very careful if you join Capital One. The stacked ranking can be cutthroat depending on the specific organization / team you join.
I also got recruiter call for Lead Eng role, they told me Lead Eng is very high position and after Sr Lead Eng get Director position. Just want to check here if anyone can help in understanding level for around 15 years exp which position is best. They told me cap1 don’t have Architect position and I’m in technical in my current position. Moving from Deloitte to cap1 will be better? How’s benefits etc.?
It depends on if you're in the people leader track or individual contributor. Directors are usually after Senior Managers. Maybe they would put you on the individual contributor track and you would be Senior Manager equivalent. Benefits are the usual 401k with 7.5% matching, stock purchasing, no discount until really high levels
Best case scenario you get an offer at PA (general Senior Software Engineer) and you get an extra $20k pretax. Nothing special
don't forget how crowded it is at the PA level right now, and the likelihood of being new and not having tribal knowledge of systems/processes being used against you every 6 months in the PM cycles

I’d say interview and got the offer in hand before worrying about whether to join or not.
You should definitely interview. I’d rather say no to an offer than to be left wondering “what if”. Cap1 interviews aren’t difficult, but I imagine they could give you a small bump in TC that might make it worth at least considering.
