Moving to SDE from Automation engineer role at Apple.

I am joining Apple as an Automation engineer(Siri Team). Is it possible for me to move to dev or is it something that I shouldn’t even think about in Apple?

It can be done, but it’s not as easy as one would hope. You really have to build good relationships with the devs, spend 1-2 years as an automation engineer, then use the relationships you’ve built to interview for dev roles. That being said, they pay about the same and automation is significantly less stressful.

Thanks a lot for the response buddy 😊 Don’t see a future in what I m doing currently. Also I m very interested to work as a backend dev. So will try doing what you have said above

Honestly, Apple is a great place to work. Hopefully you enjoy it. What team you going to?

Is automation same as build / release engineer at apple? If not, what's the difference?
