What do you think is wrong with a kid who got rejected by 9 colleges?
That sounds pretty amazing. What’s the smaller city? High pay and low cost of living.
The city is Pittsburgh! Almost 30% less cost of living compared to Boston!
Sounds like a good move if you want to save money. Pittsburgh is a decent city, though it’s not as cool as Boston.
Personally, I’d only move if I had family there. Pittsburgh is up and coming, but it still has run down areas and it’s harder to get to everything the northeast corridor has to offer.
Is it Google that pays 400k at Pittsburgh?
I dont think so. Levels.fyi says google barely touches that numbers for level 5 in California which itself is very hard to get. So they will definitely not pay that much in Pittsburgh!
How is that even a question? Do you think staying with a company that values you at half as much as another company is going to bode well for you?
How amazing will the ‘amazing pay’ be? If you spill out a few numbers, you might get better advice.
Over 400K close
Ohh wow. And since it will be a smaller city, $400k will feel more like $500k! If I were you and I was single, I would definitely make the move and move back 2-3 years later if I wanted to. I know it’s easier said than done. But the difference between ‘$200k in Boston’ and ‘$400 in a smaller city’ is way too much to ignore! If I had to move from Boston to a small town/countryside instead of a smaller city, then I would need to think a bit more.
