Not trolling. Leaders who directly report to the CEO are saying they have to hire/promote a woman for a leadership role that is open for no other reason than diversity. Also have heard from leadership staff that there are too many white/asian males in roles so they can't promote any more. Is this okay? Or is there better ways to get diversity done?
More likely you misunderstood what was actually said. Making employment decisions on the basis of gender is generally unlawful.
Yes it's unlawful, and yes it's most likely what OP heard. Business leaders are breaking the law openly and there are no consequences under Biden regime. https://x.com/andrealucasEEOC/status/1752006517761421719?s=20
Honestly I did not. It felt very much like tokenism to me. "John can't have this position, it needs to be a woman. We need more woman leaders."
White -> covers, European, Australian, American people and potentially Africans Asian -> covers Chinese, Indians and misc East Asians What more representation do you want? Antarctica? Can’t comment on gender diversity but I hope that problem gets fixed within this century
Well you want to bet it is just white and Indian men there...
Having a leadership team made up entirely of one gender and one or two racial backgrounds is a recipe for a one-dimensional bloc. Studies show that diverse leadership groups produce better outcomes than homogeneous groups. So yeah, if your entire leadership team are white and Asian males, and there’s only one leadership role open, I can see why they’d prioritize wanting to ensure a qualified diverse voice has a seat at the table. I’m sorry you don’t understand how that would be in the best interests of the company. It certainly says something about how your company generally hires if there’s literally not one person who reports to the CEO that isn’t a white or Asian male. I would bet that many other things at this company need to change beyond this one hiring decision, but I suppose that would be wishful thinking.
I think you are an idiot. Maybe all of them worked really hard to reach that position.
