I am on my last H1b attempt, Qualcomm was providing me an option to relocate to India if my H1b does not get picked. Got an offer from MSFT for Redmond as L61 Swe. I broke this news to my current company manager and told him that I would be switching after two weeks as MSFT is willing to relocate me to Canada if last H1b is not picked. My current company manager expressed me disappointment saying that the company has spent so much resource to provide me training and pay fees for immigration. ( I gave him idea about my visa issue since last year) He then told me that QCom is now willing me to transfer to Canada. I am feeling guilty that my manager is disappointed, Am I wrong and does this sound normal when employee is switching company? This is my first job switch and I was quite panicked that manager spoke with me in angry tone. Old tc: 162k(122k,20k,20k) New tc: 195k(140k,35k,20k) YoE: 2.7

Calculated my NW and now i can't sleep
you did nothing wrong
No such thing as company loyalty. Just do your thing! Congrats on the offer.
Couldn't agree more with you! My dad worked at IBM for 30+ years and was super loyal to the company... however, IBM wasn't loyal to him, and was "let go" like 2y before retirement (due to "downsizing"). Was a life lesson for me... fuck company loyalty.
Qualcomm clearly didn't care enough before he gave notice. No reason to care about them now.
Hahahahaha company paid for immigration fees? Jesus, some people, unbelievable. Leave asap, your manager is just bs’ing you, move to Microsoft and good luck with H1B next year.
Being a first time job change, she is counting on it that you would feel guilty and stay, but do whats best for you, no such thing as loyalty in IT.
THIS ^^^^
Managers always say that, it's quite normal if company doesn't support we always look for new opportunities Just move with MSFT
Not always, only shitty managers approach it this way. So run from your current manager as fast as you can! You deserve a better one..
Don’t feel guilty!! You did what you had to do. Your manager is acting like the money is coming out of his own pocket
I remember my first job my manager kept promising me green card support when I was on h1b. Every 6 months. After 2 years I eventually found another job and put in my notice. At this point he said company policy is 6 1 year till h1b Maxout. So basically I was lied to consistently for so long...after this I no longer trust what management says
Haha 😂, did you fall for your manager?
I told him that I am leaving
And don’t do it either OP, dating mgr ain’t never gonna end good for at least one of you
Fk him..Do what's best for you!
Each and every company on planet earth spends a lot to provide training to their assets and pay fucking fees for immigration. QCom ain’t that special. You haven’t done anything wrong! Move on pal, MSFT is anyway better than QFuckingCom. Good luck for H1B! Btw is your manager desi?
Yes, how do you know?
Important question, desi mgr are the worst (this is coming from a desi) we left the country but not the shit office policies smh
Company paid for immigration fees because they need you to work. Not the other way round. Companies train people go do their work not the other way round. Managers need to stop making everything personal. Corporates can suck bananas.
