He was laid off after 16 years at Google. 8 weeks transition period + 16 weeks + 2 weeks for every year. He's still bummed about getting cut, but this definitely softens the blow. TC 400k Edit: he's a US citizen #layoffs
Let’s hope he is not on H1b. 56 weeks of pay would not mean shit in that case.
He's a citizen, but good point.
He wont be on H1B if he is working in G for 16 years!!
Rest and vest
Travel the world and wait out the recession tbh
16 years tenure. Simply from the stock growth with that length he could’ve been owning multiple lands by now. Severance is probably like a 🥜 compared to his NW
That Google kool aid is very strong..
What kool aid? This is fact.
The dude is bummed about getting laid off despite having 56 weeks severance… most would be jumping for joy.
It’s a blessing
Imagine how bumped you would be if you worked 16 years at a company and all your access were cut down to 0 at 2 AM. It’s not always about money !!!
Why be bummed when a company treats you like cheap trash like that? Good riddance.
Awesome deal. He should be happy. Google or not, staying at the same company for 16 yrs is not good anyway. Time for a change. Let him enjoy free time a bit, and then explore other companies.
16 years at G is quite the tenure. What’s his NW you think?
No clue, but likely better than mine lol
