My teammate got 56 weeks of severance at Google
He was laid off after 16 years at Google. 8 weeks transition period + 16 weeks + 2 weeks for every year. He's still bummed about getting cut, but this definitely softens the blow. TC 400k Edit: he's a US citizen #layoffs

Imagine how bumped you would be if you worked 16 years at a company and all your access were cut down to 0 at 2 AM. It’s not always about money !!!

Awesome deal. He should be happy. Google or not, staying at the same company for 16 yrs is not good anyway. Time for a change. Let him enjoy free time a bit, and then explore other companies.
