To all the people saying 5000+ people fired from Twitter were coasters because the site still works: How many people at Google do you think are working on Christmas day? Does the search engine stop on weekends? Software does not just stop working when people quit. Software detoriates and becomes irrelevant over time. It does not just go away when people are not actively writing code. Twitter has actually a better experience now because there are no ads due to 90% of advertisers pausing their spending. Even when they are down to a few hundreds, the site won't stop working. It will just be full of Donald Trump impersonators, adult videos, and scams. #tech
lol who
Liberals are the worst opponents to have. They will hate you out of existence. Wtf? Itz just company doing what all others are doing in this capitalistic economy
You’re so lost and tolerant of hate
TIL: I'm not a liberal anymore
People were telling that Twitter will have outages in 2 weeks and Elon doesn't know what he is doing, also worldcup surge traffic would cause issues etc. I think there even was a twitter post by ex-tweep that a super important core infra team was fired and twitter can't work without them. These other posts you see are in response to those since noone of it has happened and Twitter is working fine. Also except few features, there isn't anything that Twitter has launched in last 2 years, so what those 7k were working on?? making tiktoks at work and eating free food?
Exactly.
Free food should be mandatory for companies in the first place. Why would an employee pay a billionaire for a piece of sushi at work?
Myspace also currently only serves 6% as many users as it did at its peak and hasn't meaningfully iterated features or innovated itself in a decade. Twitter's MAU is more than 50x MySpace current MAU, but they now have only a handful of engineers to maintain it, and Nero is still fiddling while he continues to pour gasoline on his new empire. I know the servers won't suddenly collapse next week (probably), and the corporate entity is likely to languish over decades, but Twitter's best days are now behind it, and a madman is actively hastening the destruction.
Yeah I never understood why anyone thought Twitter would go down suddenly
Lol
You can have an all around well built stack, but if a critical dependency was written poorly (yes this happens), the developers who knew that service or application deeply are no longer there, and something comes up, it could be a while before the full experience is up and running.
MySpace also lost all previous user data from pre-2014 from a data migration. So MS pretty much became useless because all the OG users data is forever gone.
Well Christmas Day is on a Sunday, so if I were to guess OP.. not many of us will be working
What exactly are people unhappy about Twitter (as a user, not employee)? That there are no more double standards, no racial discrimination in censorship? And no lying about it AB’s claiming to be a neutral platform?
Yeah, why wouldn't people want their town square flooded with trolls, bots, overt bigots, liars, and fake "verified" accounts?

Does MySpace also have 13 billion additional debt than its market cap? Twitter will go bankrupt and the servers might be sold for parts
I thought Twitter would be on a public cloud provider like AWS. Hopefully they kept some SREs
