There are a couple products I don't really understand how it all fits into the existing products 1. Meta AI = Meta is a social network platform but I am not so sure how conversational or generative AI fits into their products. I guess Generative AI can be incorporated into metablverse so anyone can easily make virtual worlds. Besides that, how does conversational AI help with Instagram or Facebook 2. Google Waymo or Cruise = Other Autonomous driving companies like Tesla, I think it is great. But companies like Waymo and Cruise require a ugly rotating lidar sensor that enables this tech. Even if you perfected autonomous driving, you have to convince car manufacturers to put that ugly sensor and redesign their cars, AND convince consumers that the design is awesome. Except for using it as robotaxi or delivery, I don't know the end goal here. 3. OpenSea NFT = The whole company. NFTs are cool but I saw many NFTs being traded in OpenSea and their blockchain data links back to OpenSea's AWS S3 public bucket link to load the image. This means that if you bought a picture of a cat in NFT, if someone changes the content of the bucket link to point to a picture of dog, now your NFT image changes. Completely centralized not decentralized. Still makes me scratch my head. Any other tech roadmaps you guys don't get?
Meta’s metaverse needs NPCs. Having conversational ai bots fill that need would be excellent for many reasons
U mean like runescape
Products need not fit. These usually change the entire market! Eg. iPhone, App Store, Google Search
Did you understand bitcoin when it first came out? I bet you had the same skepticism, otherwise you would be rich by now
This isn't a great argument because Bitcoin is still largely useless as a product despite being worth a lot now.
OP I strongly feel this kind of unusual product are meant to create new market segment. I was reading somewhere that even Steve Jobs want keen on creating IPhone. His top lieutenants has to convince him a lot and the rest of history. Fitting into the existing product is like scaling it horizontally and u will or should kill your competitors like Facebook always copies To grow some companies acquire. For some companies product it the way they converge existing many products into one and make it simple example : IPhone. Have u ever wondered how Craigslist has created so many industries
Even if the Waymo or Cruise is used for robotaxi only, it should be revolutionary.
OP: “Except for these two business models, I don’t see a business model”
We are the biggest social network and you can't think of a single product for conversational AI or image generation?
Enlighten the OP pls
AI profile pics which people are already doing via outside apps. Any kind of art generator people would want to share or people would want to brand off of (brainstorming here. Ignore copyright questions) Autocaption tuned on likes and dislikes. Commercial chat bots for customer service. Chat bots for fan interactions. I'm not even being creative. People are already doing a ton of this with middlemen in chatgpt or dalle stable diffusion whatever. If you are paying attention this is exploding.
Waymo and Cruise have no plan to integrate their tech in consumer level vehicle. I don’t think it is realistic given how it works
Cruise is owned by GM. GM is doing all the heavy lifting regarding producing cars / shipping cars etc etc. Cruise can focus on core so I think that's strengtg. Waymo has a strong partnership. Tesla is actually quite not a autonomous driving. It's is at best a advanced cruise control as long as it requires driver's at handle.
Tesla is a stock company sir. Their lawyers themselves state that they are level 2. FSD is just for the pump. Ugly lidar? Safety should come before aesthetics. Also there are lidars that's coming to be more subtle.
