Joining as a L5 tpm as I couldn't crack the L6 interview. What is usually the cadence for promo at Amazon? What are some factors that are particular at Amazon that will help me get to L6 soon? Also, are there yearly refreshers in Amazon during review cycles?
Level at ms ?

did you share your level with recruiter ? they might have set the target level.
Nope, not at all. They mentioned I didn't perform at the level they interviewed me at
2 yrs give or take But I’ve seems some do it in a year
TC or GTFO
The first and second year comp barely crosses 200 and drops in the third year because there is no sign on. Are raises and refreshers supposed to take care of this?
No one's comp at Amazon has ever dropped in year 3, it's usually dramatically higher in year 3 and 4. Year 5 is the first year most people see a drop because in that year you vest stock with only 2yrs growth instead of vesting stock with 3 or 4 years growth.
Op, you vest 40% in year 3 so how would it drop?
The average is 2-4 years. Two being quite rare and 3-4 much more common.

If you missed for just one thing and in the first few weeks you can show that you actually have that ability and just didn't do well in the interview you can get your level adjusted. If you missed on multiple things forget it. But if it's just one thing you came up short on and you can actually do it on the job then your manager can go back to the original hiring committee and show them the real world on-the-job data that demonstrates it isn't actually a gap: not that you have improved, but that you always had it, just had a poor showing in the interview. Lots of managers dont know about this process and the time window is very short to do it but it's possible. Failing that you have to go through the whole promo process which is likely to take at LEAST a year or two to show on the job evidence of performing at the new level on all criteria.
Troll.
