A recruiter from #nbcuniversal reached out about a senior software engineering role. They are trying to poach Disney engineers but I was shocked that Senior SWE roles are not bonus or RSU eligible? Disney pays 🥜 but at least there are bonuses and stock to make the deal a little sweeter. How can they compete without important pieces of the comp package?
Which division? As far as I know, only Peacock offers RSU and bonus to those below Director level. Typical annual RSU for IC is $15k with 5% bonus.
The team is Hosting, Strategy, Sales, and Scheduling (HSS&S) and I have no idea what that even is. As soon as the recruiter mentioned no bonus or RSU it completely derailed the conversation. As a senior software engineer at Disney, I'm getting $55k annual RSU grants and 10% bonus. The base is comparable (high end for the role is $165k and that's where I am now). Better to level up at Disney, where as a lead I could get a 20-30% bonus and 45% RSU.
Yah that aint peacock sorry bud
Netflix will pay you three times what NBCU is offering if you can make your way in
Netflix does not appear to be an option. I've applied multiple times and I don't even get to the phone screen LOL. Just ghosted at the "application received" stage.
Peanuts 🥜
HSS&S is a dumpster fire and not Peacock. Strong contractor mentality.
Cleared the interviews for the role of Sr. Director Product Management there, declined the offer as it doesn’t have sign on or equity component. The team was great, enjoyed interviewing with them. But HR was not up-to the mark and could barely answer any questions, another reason why why I declined.
They aren’t trying to compete. They are poaching the third tier sub par engineers who are not able to join high paying companies. Literally 🥜for 🥜
Yeah but those engineers would just stay at Disney for 🥜 + RSU and Bonus versus joining Universal for 🥜 alone
Disney RSU is still 🥜 I say stay at Disney for perks. If you have family, it's best
