Systemic Racism Part 5 - The Final Poll and Take Aways

So I had done 4 polls in the past week surrounding the social issue of Systemic Racism in the US. Updated poll statistics are on the bottom if you are interested. Here is the final poll on the issue. But before we leave it to rest with a final poll, here are some take aways IMHO. 1. At least 4 out of 10 if not 50-50 of people among us think differently about the current political/social issues. Even if you are very comfortable expressing your political views at work, you are risking alienating others who may not share your view point but choose to remain silent. 2. About 50% people on this site do not believe in the claim of Systemic Racism playing a major role in the US today. 3. The current out rage about Systemic Racism does not explain why Asian immigrants do better than any other race in the US today despite of believing in that Systemic Racism impact all races equally. Lastly 4. People do not want to hear your opinions, they only want to hear their opinions coming out of your mouth. NOW: Please respond to our last poll. Past Poll Results: ___________________________________________________ Systemic Racism Part 1 - General Consensus (Updated: 79 Votes Total) 54.4% say Systemic Racism is real. 45.6% say Systemic Racism is not real. Systemic Racism Part 2 - Point of Impact (Updated: 26 Votes Total) 53.8% say Systemic Racism impacts all minority communities. 46.2% say it does not exist. While no one selected third option say Systemic Racism only impacted African American communities. Systemic Racism Part 3 - The Asian Anomaly (Updated: 28 Votes Total) 42.9% says that Systemic Racism does not exist. Another 42.9% says exploring the anomaly of Asian excelling in academia disproportionally is a symptom of Systemic Racism. 14.8% Thinks that Systemic Racism does not apply to Asians. I am bit surprised about the last one since in poll 2 majority of people think Systemic Racism impacts all communities. I shrug... Systemic Racism Part 4 - When Corporations Take Sides (18 Votes Total) 77.8% say corporations should not get involved in political or social issues at all. Leaders such as CEOs who are passionate about an issue can do it on his/her own time and dime. 22.2% say Corporations should remain neutral on political or social issues but acknowledge the current events.

Interesting poll. Do you consider below statement as racism? There is a higher crime rate amongst black people.

Apple CEO@Hooli OP Jun 16, 2020

Statistics are not racist. They are merely numbers for interpretations. According to NAACP https://www.naacp.org/criminal-justice-fact-sheet/ In 2014, African Americans constituted 2.3 million, or 34%, of the total 6.8 million correctional population. Unless we are arresting people and throwing them in jail just for walking down the street, I'd say there are other factors contributing to the disparity of the incarceration than simply discrimination.

Do you feel safe saying this at work?

Amazon PIPmeDaddy Jun 16, 2020

On your point #3, who argued systematic racism impacts all races equally? Nobody argues that. Asian immigrants (and immigrants in general) are generally likely to avoid poverty because if they were motivated enough to leave their country in the first place they would be motivated enough to be somewhat successful. The issue with black systematic racism is that Jim Crow era policies have destroyed black communities so much they get stuck in cycles of poverty.

If Asian immigrants can come to a country without knowing English and achieve the impossible. What is holding back other races in the country from achieving the same even when there is no cultural/language barrier or learning curve? You tracing the issue to Jim Crow. Unless there is a Jim Crow law still being enforced today I can not be convinced that is the cause.

+1 to Apple. And don’t forget there are policies that discriminate against white and Asian in favor of other minorities such as schools enrollment, so-called workplace balance in terms of racial distribution. They mean if you’re white or Asian and you are just slightly better or equal to other minorities, you areas to be admitted, first to get laid off. Is that systemic racism?

Microsoft DumpThTurd Jun 17, 2020

I'm sorry. Do you need a safe space for your minority leaning biases? Maybe the workplace should be more "Inclusive" to your views no?

Apple CEO@Hooli OP Jun 17, 2020

I do not need a safe space and you should not apologize. Your comment just supported the poll stat. Thank you!

Microsoft DumpThTurd Jun 17, 2020

No problem. I heard magas have an app that they use to find safe spaces from being looked at or judged

I’m moderate and don’t feel safe voicing my opinions. Unfortunately we live in a time that’s ruled by mob justice and their outrage, and not actual justice. And sometimes, people are simply offended because of their lack of self-esteem, and not actual wrong doing. So done with the mobs on both sides.

What if I am leaning Antifa and do not feel safe from possible government repression?
