Just think you had a bunch of millions in NFLX equities and slashed 40% in single day! Which companies, including start ups, offer more cash TC (except NFLX) that includes base + bonus. Don’t add trading / hedge firms. - Amazon: first 2 years cash heavy - Cruise: 300k+ for L5, 375k+ for L6, 450k+ for L7
Jane Street. It’s a prop trading firm, not a hedge fund
Roku. Some folks are earning 500k+ base
I know a guy who got 750k+ All cash offer from Roku.

The problem with bonuses is they aren’t guaranteed. If the firm has an “off” year you get nothing. At least with RSUs you know you are getting something for the next 4 years.
Which top companies in recent time didn’t offer the bonus? Most folks will ditch the company if promised bonus / TC is NOT delivered — specially in a competitive market. Performance is tied to bonus both in FB and Google. That is fair IMO.
The top companies haven’t really been through a recession yet. I have a few friends that work at oil companies that didn’t get a bonus the year oil went negative.
