My company has open enrollment right now and they offer MetLife legal plan. I just wanted to see if anyone has enrolled in a similar plan from their company? Is it worth it? Has anyone actually used their services and how was the experience? Looks like it’s pretty cheap for a lawyer. About $20 a month and you get services like estate planning, home and real estate, civil lawsuits and more. We own our home and we are looking to buy a new home soon. And I know lawyer fees can be pretty high when buying a home. so kind of skeptical that they will cover this for only $20 a month. TC - $200k
I used it this year for estate planning. The plan I have through Meta is pretty inexpensive and I think it’s actually less than $20 per month. It was super easy to use once I found an attorney. I’m not sure I’ll sign up for it again, but glad I did this year since I’ve putting it off for a few years.
I can definitely see if you’re doing an estate planning this would be a good benefit.
The MetLife plan I had through FB was actually good, had several good lawyers get things done well. The current one I have at Google is total trash.
What did you use the lawyers from FB for? What don’t you like about the one with google?
Will, real estate, and something else I don't immediately recall. Not a single lawyer will work with the Google plan. The ones listed all say they don't take it anymore. I worked with one that was good but he said he accidentally accepted it and usually won't (and proceeded to bill them for 9x the actual time in order to get his real rate). It's entirely useless.
Yea it’s a great service. I used it for a speeding ticket and I didn’t have to do a thing and they got it dropped right down. I also used it for adoption and estate planning and it was so easy.
Not worth it. Really bad lawyers, and the plan pays them so little that they won’t really take your case. The only scenario where it’s worth it is if you use out of plan lawyer and get reimbursed, but it’s not really a lot of money.
Ya, that’s what I was afraid of. Too good to be true. And if you do get lawyers to take a case for you. You get what you pay for.
That said, they have a pretty okish reimbursement procedure, so if you *know* you will use a lawyer this year might help you save a few hundreds
