Debating a move between San Diego and New York. Married, no kids, late 20s. I think I’d enjoy both equally although they’re very different. I enjoy going out to bars, restaurant, etc.. But I also enjoy having an active lifestyle and being in the outdoors No pay cut for NYC but probably will need to take a 10-15% pay cut for San Diego Wdyt?
Active lifestyle means sd then.
New York, any day
San Diego has more homeless, drug addicts and mentally ill. If you don't have to take the subway daily NYC wins hands down. Public transportation is very dangerous in SoCal. Both have similar social issues due to wealth disparity. But NYC gets too cold and hot which minimizes the violence to certain months.
SD homelessness is only a problem in small areas downtown. The area is much larger than the downtown core and if you don’t live downtown you’ll probably only spend time here to go out to the bars and restaurants in which case homelessness should have minimal impact. SD public transportation is trash, you’d likely be ubering (extremely cheap compared to NYC) or driving. The main downside to SD is the night life scene and restaurants. The average bar in NYC is probably more fun than my favourite spots here. Nightlife spots here just lack character and good music. There are good restaurants but again most of those would be considered average in NYC. Nature, beaches, weather and generally more laid back culture makes up for that though.
If married I would think SD unless you are a really big food person.
His wife has a high chance of being kidnapped or beaten up in SoCal vs. NYC
You sound deranged
San Diego.
I’m living in SD and am also a big fan of NYC happy to help you decide via dm!
How did you make the decision of SD over NY?
I grew up in San Diego, and while it's not in my top 5 favorite cities, I can definitely see the appeal for families and most people. I understand why people love it, but it's not the lifestyle I personally want. There's tons to do in terms of outdoor activities, pretty decent airport, easy access to Mexico and LA, can easily find snow if you appreciate winter, the beach, pretty good diversity, lots of museums and cultural events, plenty of public and private schools, etc.
Lol i’m the same exact way. Also grew up in SD and after traveling around the world to many places. SD doesn’t have the same appeal anymore. Plenty of other cities with great weather, better food, and cheaper housing. But i get why people like SD. Beats living in North Carolina anyday yadiyamean
