My story started with L1B and transfer from Facebook UK to Facebook US. As I had bad luck with H1B lotery and was not picked up 3x times I decided to move back to Europe as I didn't want to stay on the slave visa anymore. H1B was broken and is still broken beyond comprehension. While in Europe I was working on my profile with publications, books and conference speaches as well as visibility in big opensource projects. That allowed to get to the stage with 80+ citations - mostly my book. I applied for EB2-NIW and EB1A and was approved for EB2 in late 2017 amd EB1A in second week of 2018. I moved to US to join Nvidia in 2019. I married my wife (USC) in late 2019 and last week got my naturalization certificate! US very good immigration system but still need to improve H1B either with country cap or salary cap so only best earners are granted H1B. God bless America!
I started N400 in December 2022.
Country cap even on H-1B?
yes as India overwhelms H1B. Green card clerly shows that country cap works. Other solution is to pick only top earners in every lottery. This would be even better than country cap.
Your nationality?
Now I am USC but I was born in Israel.
How come you didnβt immediately apply for Green Card whilst on L1-B???
Naturalized last week and this week you might have become a millionaire (if not already) with the NVDA π! Way to go OP!! I someday hope to get where youβre at
Calling American immigration system "good" is laughable. As soon as you fall below EB-1, PERM takes over. This adds 15-18 months to the process. After which, you can get audited which would add 36 months to the process. Only after this you get to apply for I-140. And then you gotta wait for priority date to be current. It's utter bullshit. All the delays are just nonsense bureaucracy.
eb2-niw no perm. As I shown Eb2-niw and even eb1 are doable but require work!
But that's just one type of processing. It excludes all other types. It not just "more work". The system has arbitrary hoops with ambiguous processing standards and times. Imagine if aws made you jump through arbitrary hoops and ambiguous latencies. Would that be a reasonable system?
Congrats π
Hey, can you please share details on how you improved your profile for NIW? I have a 2 publications with 6 citations but Iβm looking to publish more and increase citation count without a PhD.
When did you apply for naturalization? Can you share the timeline?
