I am in perfect health and have athletic form. In late 20s living in the US. But on that day, I had been complaining about sharp left shoulder pain for two days in a row. It was mostly at night, when lying down. Night 2 was so painful that I couldn’t sleep at all more than 20 minutes straight. The morning after, I didn’t do much after a sleepless night. I barely ate a banana. Suddenly, I felt a similar sharp pain in the abdomen, left side under the ribs. I became pale, weak, nauseous, noxious, and the pain was unbearable. I tried to walk to the bathroom and collapsed on the way. I woke up shortly, on the floor, with 911 responders on the way thanks to my partner. They arrived and said my blood pressure was too low and administered fluid resuscitation which helped me a lot. Eventually they dropped me at the ER. ER doctors found that I lost half of my blood count (hemoglobin at 8 vs baseline of 15), administered more fluid and eventually a blood transfusion. Radiologists diagnosed an enlarged spleen which probably turned into severe internal hemorrhage. The bleeding stopped on its own after giving me all the medications under the sun and the blood transfusion. I stayed for ICU/surgical monitoring and left after 2 days. The issue resolved on its own and the cause remained vague. A test for mononucleosis was positive and doctors hypothesized that this was likely a rare complication of mononucleosis. No other condition was found after spending more than $200k on all follow up exams that our dear healthcare system can offer. I am so grateful for such a great emergency response team. I would probably not have made it through otherwise. There is a nerve in the abdomen that connects the shoulder. So the shoulder pain should have been a warning sign. It’s called referred pain. There is more to life than TC. Take care of your health, and if you have abdominal pain that does not improve please rush yourself straight to the ER 🙏 Edit: cost was mostly covered by health insurance. I have PPO. The cost-sharing rules are detailed on my insurance and they were strictly applied. If I didn’t have PPO it would have been more complicated for my follow ups as I would not have been free to consult any specialist under the sun without approval.

I’m actually vegan and supplement free. Sorry to disappoint
Well then that’s the problem, was not expecting veganism but it’s not healthy and your body is telling you this
Happy you made it out and are in better health. Blessings
