I want to buy a new phone for the year. Let's say for circumstances, I never really had a phone before in my life. I want to be able to see my options at least: Ideally I want to stay on Android but seems to be limited options. Pixel 7 Pro: Since it is releasing this week, any Googlers can give any heads up about it? I heard issues with these series of phones (especially not able to call 911, overheating, and issues with its modem) so I'm hoping it's a good option and not have to spend my time trying to make it work. I like the stock Android experience so looks like it could last a while but I really want the hardware to work. Samsung S22/S23 Ultra: Considered to be the best Android device you can buy. But ideally I want to avoid the bloatware or at least make sure the battery is okay. Does the US have the unlocked Snapdragon? Apple 14 Pro Max: Well I would have to change to iOS but apparently it just works. Which is great, but can't sideload apps and I would need to absorb myself to the Apple ecosystem. What would be the best choice for now?
Buy a TV 📺 🍿
I have a few but may try to do so in the future. I want a good 4k to watch anime with.
iPhone is the best phone on the market. It has everything you need and it does everything well
I'll miss the ability to sideload apps and other custom features. I'm not sure if I'm ready to abandon Android.
How is iPhone better than s22?
Pixel is really good if you can confirm that 911 problem. It will likely pre -ordered/delayed delivery
I just heard the Pixel line tend to have problems or hardware isn't up to par. I hope there are changes to make me consider.
Pixel is pretty good. been using 6, and it's perfect except for the slightest lag in the fingerprint scanner which they've fixed in 6a and 7. 7pro has everything that Apple offers with more features and less expensive
Have you had any issues from anything in terms of heat? I do want to play some games as an option.
I've played games, like call of duty. It heats up if I play for more than an hour without a break, but not unbearable. Or if I put it on recording a timelapse in the heat of the desert for more than 2-3 minutes then it turns off. These are kinda extreme examples I'd say. Otherwise it's chill
Pixel 5a or 6a
moved to iphone few years ago. was an android enthusiast until then. found my patience wearing thin after a pixel update wiped my storage and all the music i had collected until then. saw the value in things just working and moved to iphone. only thing i miss is pixel camera. iphone images don’t look real as the eye sees it, in comparison to pixel
No issues with heating on pixel 6. 7 looks even better, planning to upgrade

Have you had any overheating issues or anything of the sort? H9w is the battery life, camera, and overall performance?
