I'm currently working at Citi. I have some amateur experience in making video game emulators and professional experience in computer vision and work as a web developer for now. I always wanted to work in a field that gets me closer to computer architecture , designing game engines (not necessarily games, but their underlying libraries), would it be a good career option, would nvidia's system software engineer in india be a good fit? YoE: 2
You want nvidia to work for u ?
Heh, corrected
Come work for oculus
I'd love to, any options in India?
Never hurts to apply
NVIDIA is a huge place. There are amazing teams and teams full of pain and sorrow. Most of the time, hiring will be done on the skills you want to get. Yes, you want to get a job about cuda to learn more cuda they are gonna ask you cuda.
Would you kind enough to tell me your opinion on which teams are usually considered amazing, and which ones are considered relatively bad, atleast among system software engineering domains
It goes directly to your manager. So my recommendation is that you interview your manager. Find traces of micromanagement, of his ideas are best. You are not there to give your opinion and then work on shit. You are there to accomplish and be responsible for it. Good things to see: data driven, giving space to prove your assumptions.
Nvidia in Pune should have roles related to device driver, and cuda development which should give you a good understanding of gpu architecture and related system software. I am not sure if work related to game engine libraries such as phyx/optix is done in India. You may want to confirm with your recruiter.
There were openings for sse - gpu, sse - gaming and sse-tegra in india. Does game engines come under gaming?
Yes sse gaming looks like it. Can you DM me the job description?

Seems like you want to work with CUDA or straight up fpga/vlsi design. There aren’t many opportunities in the latter for low yoe; if I am wrong about this, please let me know. Not sure about the former.
Yes, something on the lines of cuda. Nvidia did take some of my classmates straight out of college, for a similar tc to what citi pays , but for asic roles. Some of those who interned there were taken for sse. That makes me believe i have a chance for Systems software engineer role. I was looking a career in something related to computer engineering over electronics, where i can code in c++ or other low level programming.
