Hi Blind, After 170+ leetcode and been rejected by Google and Amazon I feel exhausted and slightly depressed. I need to move on and want to try FAANG in 1 year again, but have no motivation doing leets. Noone can guarantee that I wouldn't fail next year, no matter how many leets I do. Also, I understand that FAANG are just tech companies with big salaries and good wlb. And even if I would make it, there still a possibility to encounter common problems, like bad project, toxic colleagues, etc. On the other side, I really enjoy to work on my private project. I use and learn interesting stuff comparing to soulless algos, which I never use in my work. Most likely, it won't bring me any significant income, but there is a slight possibility though. So, fellow Blinders. What would you choose?
Your situation is similar to one of my friends who I coached. He also failed amz and Google, but tried again in a year and failed Google again but passed amz
170 LeetCode is a solid start, what was the distribution of easy, medium, hard?
Mostly medium, about 20 hard.
Tough luck on the interviews, maybe stumbled on system design?
We will always struggle. It’s the choice to keep fighting that makes us who we are.
Rewatch the opening scene of The Godfather 'til you grow some manhood - suck the losses and get back up, BE A MAN!
Just feel happy with your ptoject and try again in a year anyway. Doing “Leetcode” is not necessary and probably just stressing you out.
170 leetcode! that’s unbelievable! sure, this must be enough to run for president
Can't you do both? Why this has to be one or the other?
Time constraints. I can spend no more than 1-2 hours per day, except weekends. Don't think that I can split 50/50, since I only start warming up after first 20-30 mins.
I see. In that case I'd work on project for the first 8 months and spend the last 4 months studying and LC. Work on your weak areas and maybe read an actual book on algorithms first. 3 months should be really enough, 4 is plenty. No need to spend a full year on this shit
