Hi, My 401k plan is in fidelity. I havent cared except contributing till now, i opened the app just to have a look, there is option to invest this funds. Is this something we need to do or an extra option? Can anyone please help me with it. TC:210k

We don't know what investment options are available to you. Given your unfamiliarity of investments, I suggest that you maximize your 401k contributions and put everything in a target date retirement fund with a target date that matches the year you wish to retire. Set it and forget it. If you save beyond that and if you qualify to contribute to a Roth IRA, contribute separately to your and spouse's account

Thank you. This is really helpful. Also is there any attributes and so on that i can use to filter out the investment options?

You can seek knowledge elsewhere. The money guy show Boogleheads r/investing Your 2 best options without any insight to what your company offers are Target date retirement fund (stocks and bonds - less volatility and usually less gains) S&P 500 index (FXAIX)

Fidelity has a non-ESG S&P 500 index fund as one of the choices. This is what I use. This is not financial advice.
