I was laid off from my company back in November and have been applying/interviewing since but I haven't been able to pass an onsite due being a weaker candidate compared to the pool they had. I've past the 6 month mark of being unemployed and am now starting to worry about the gap on my resume. Some things I've noticed during my interviews with companies: 1. Recruiters are bucketing me as a senior engineer due to me having 5 yoe but I am maybe a mid-level at best since the first 3 years involved me just writing config scripts and nothing related to feature development. I don't want to be treated as a senior so I've contemplated removing this from my resume so I come off as a junior/mid level to recruiters to increase my odds. 2. My behavioral interview answers suck. I've refined them after every interview I failed but still can't seem to nail my answers even after practicing on my own. Are there certain interview questions where the interviewer is looking for a specific kind of answer? 3. Should I look for a side gig outside of swe in the time being? I'm not struggling financially but the lack of income's kinda sucks. Note: I was laid off from a different company other than Arista. This acct is from a while ago #Interviews #behavioral #layoffs
