Disney+ has bad Wlb and culture. Amazon could be worse, but at least I'll have higher TC and better resume. Benefit is pretty bad at Disney now since free parks is just free COVID risk. How is benefit at Amazon?
Both are trash
TC or?
interview more
Do you have an Amazon offer yet? If so give both current TC and amazon TC. Amazon basically has no benefits as such worth mentioning.
Actually Amazon has surprisingly good fertility coverage for IVF etc via Progyny. That may not be important to everyone based on life stage, but when it matters - it’s a really big deal.
Depends on the team you join at Amazon
Which are the good and bad ones? I’m also interviewing at Amazon (Alexa team)
Wait disney gives you free access to parks? Any constraints?
There are black out dates. After Covid it's difficult to find open spots for employee free access
In the before times, we were restricted from going on days when you didn't want to go anyway because of the crowds.
The Amazon brand outshines Disney, all other things being equal
id rather work for disney with less TC all other things being equal
The tech talent and engineering culture at Disney are pretty bad. I assume Amazon to be much better since it is the largest tech company. So do people think going from Disney to Amazon to be an career advancement or just transition in a same tier?
I worked at DIMG, currently at DPEP. Also worked at IMDb and AWS. AWS sucked. Lots of politics and WLB is terrible. IMDb was fine. Not really any different than DPEP. Good WLB and the work is pretty straightforward. Make a bunch of microservices and pass data around. DIMG was game development. That's a whole other beast.
Why only amazon ?
blind shows disney rating as 3.5 compare to amazon as 3.2 so i guess u got to flip the coin here
