After 3 years at GS, I'm feeling kinda spent. Years of average comp growth and average reviews after back breaking hardwork have left a bad taste. Anyway this time I plan to take my talents to Big Tech or growth start-ups. I don't want to jump from one hell hole to another so Amazon is very much out. What about Google? Are they still good. In my college years, I remember they used to have great perks and employees used to gush about them to the extent of being insufferable. Nike seems like another good company with good benefits but isnt techy enough, any thoughts if I should pursue. Any others? What is average/best YoY increments in Big Tech. Start-ups seem good too but I just don't want to jump and get stressed again. Any start-ups who treat their employees well? Average/best YoY increments? Little aside, are mental health expenses included in health insurance these days? Not sure if GS has it, but important. Lastly, I work in a role where I'm expected to work like I'm 2-3 people. I've been lazy since I have to move but people are getting on my back and work is piling up. Is it advisable to resign before getting an offer. Any suggestions how to best handle this situation. We’re trying to become more techy. What kinds of roles would you be interested in?
I guess Nike cannot have traditional tech inhouse. From the postings I saw, the tech roles at Nike are there to support and expand existing Nike business like inventory management and ecommerce. But I imagine you can have great tech work in shoes designing process or something interesting in NRC platform. I really hope someday my career is stable enough that I can make the leap to Nike. Really admire the company and it's values.
I’m curious what you mean by “traditional tech”. It could be just that the teams you’re looking for aren’t hiring currently.
Similar situation here.. did you move out? Did you find anything good?
