Negotiate on vacation @ Amazon ?

Is it possible to negotiate more vacation time at amazon. Standard I believe is 2 weeks in the first year and 3 weeks after that. Assuming one has time to go on vacation instead of slaving at amazon :)

Tried so hard. They threw more money at me but refused to budge on vacation.

If you want more time off is lwop feasible? E.g. I knew a guy (since retired) that negotiated a week of unpaid vacation each year. His boss was ok with it, and HR too. Granted this was probably 20 years back. Well, it worked until a new HR manager came in and told him that wasn't going to be allowed anymore.

Maybe. Didn’t ask about unpaid.

You can't negotiate this, but are free to work out a backdoor deal with your manager. I've taken tons of PTO and never submitted it. My manager looks the other way.

I’ve heard this is common at Amazon

Literally everybody does this because we all work weekends and nights when in crunch mode. Good managers try to compensate with extra unreported vacation days.

Yes

Check the personal days you'd get at the location. When you throw them in, it doesn't look that bad. It's a company policy, there is no mention of (formal) individual exceptions.

You can take unpaid time off beyond the PTO.
