What happens when most of your team is Indian?
Is likely as an engineer to get a 3% routine raise in your contract? Last place I was at I asked for a raise after the company raised a series A and most engineers had left so I haf more leverage. But negotiating it was stressful.
3% raise is normal, and should be much more if you are a high performer
Can you negotiate it into your offer?
Not that i’ve heard of. Most companies have a yearly review cycle where you get somewhere between 2-6% increase no questions asked so long as you are doing your job, you can get much more as a top performer though
Bad idea. Then they will always give you 3% even if they were planning on giving you 5%.
You will get much more by just moving to a new company every 2-3 years.
What happens if the company can't afford the raise?
Inflation is screwing us all the time. Also given the marjet for engineers you can hop to another job for a 10% most times. Lets assume the job is not top of market, say 130k base.
No I mean in the contract. If the company can't afford a 3% raise, what does the contract say will happen.
