Has anyone negotiated their current salary at Two Sigma (with an outside offer or otherwise)? Any advice on how to go about it? I have an offer from a competitor that I don't really want to take, but the comp difference is a little over 30%. Can I be up-front about the situation and bring it up to my manager/HRBP for a comp review (and emphasize that I don't want to take the other offer)? Wait until end-of-year and mention that I'm not making market value? Or just not bring it up at all? For various reasons, I think I would be unhappy if I had to take the competing offer, so the last thing I want to do is put a target on my back. I'm not aware of any internal avenues to even start having discussions about comp, so any advice would be much appreciated! You can be upfront with your manager. Tell him about the other offer and ask him if there is any possibility of Two Sigma matching that offer. Also mention that you really like it here and not inclined to switch. The most likely result would be an immediate bump in your comp here. They are not going to fire you or be upset.
Get an offer you could actually see yourself accepting, otherwise if they say no, you're screwed.
