Negotiating Spotify offer
Got a Spotify offer for software engineer II that’s $210k TC (180k base + 120k stock/4 years). Will Spotify negotiate and go higher with a competing offer that’s around 250k TC? Looks like my current offer is near the top of the range according to levels but there’s not a ton of data. Current TC: 200k YOE: 3

In the US. Spotify pays the same regardless of location
I had 350 k offer and Spotify matched max at 230
I guess it depends on how much Spotify wants you and how well you did on interviews. Have you tried negotiating yet?
Not yet, the other company said they’re in the final stages of offer review right now so I was waiting to get some firm numbers before negotiating.
That offer is on the high end of what I have seen for eng 2. Some wiggle room of plus or minus 5k. Spotify has many great reasons to work here but unfortunately our pay is often on the lower end of tech companies (especially compared with fang). However our work life balance and interesting product can be worth it for the right engineers. Think about that before you accept the offer. Oh also our raises are low even for high performers (think 3.5% average).
Yeah I think despite the lower TC I’m inclined to accept for a lot of reasons including what you mentioned, it’s a great team and the flexibility on location is really nice for me since I’m looking to switch cities. Tried negotiating, let’s see what happens 🤞🏽
Do you know if it’s possible to negotiate levels to Senior? Originally when I was interviewing it seemed like I could have been in either
