This is indeed asking for a friend. He got a very good offer from a startup right off the bat. Details : $135k Base, 40k options Company is valued around $125M with 0.05% equity. (based on the total outstanding shares) Now, the offer is pretty good not sure how to ask for more. Par TC for his experience seems to be around $150k YoE - 2.5 Any tips on how to ask for more? Don't have much time to get a competing offer.
Equity around 0.1% seems reasonable for a series B company given the years of experience. At the end of the day, it depends on how desperately they want to hire your friend. Given that first few employees have disproportionate impact on the company, they might be willing to give more equity.
Hmm, makes sense.

0.5% of 125MM is like 625k. Tell your “friend” that this offer is pretty good.
apologies. After you mentioned 625k, i went back to him and got that it is 0.05 percent :-)
Oh man then the offer sucks balls.
