Guys, I can *finally* speak. Just a heads-up: I used to work for this company (Mercari) and one of the things we always did was to post FAKE UX DESIGNER HIRE ADS—All the time. We were never hiring. How we'd go about it was to tell every candidate that... "We're in a really crazy growth spurt right now and things are a little out of wack with our hiring process. So, how it might proceed is that we'll have you do a preliminary take-home design assignment and then we'll have you meet with our senior design staff. Sorry this is a little out-of-step; please forgive the growing pains." This was *always* complete and utter BS. 1. There never was any job opening. 2. You were never even being considered. 3. The home assignments were always things that we were working on. 4. We effectively got 1 week of free work from every single sucker that fell for it—That adds up! 5. They were never once compensated. 6. We'd wait 3 days from the date of submission to break the news to them that we weren't interested. Lol, I interviewed with Mercari during COVID. I was about to do the on site and they asked me for references first before doing the onsite which was random. Told them I'd provide post on site if an offer is presented. They denied me the next day Bummer cause I actually use it to buy some lululemon stuff sometimes.
