I wasn’t aware that top tech companies paid so much more. So I spent the first few years of my career at no-name companies in the Midwest. I think that plus paying my student loans off set me behind. My net worth is 260k @ age 28. How do I rank?
Define “net worth.” Do you mean TC or true net worth (from which you subtracted debt?)
Assets - Liabilities
Then above average.
I'm a big fan of Personal Capital for tracking net worth. DM me for an invite link.
I don’t use it for privacy reasons. The fewer services that have my data, the better.
Your shits out there already bro. There's like 17 Chinese Winslow's running around opening up credit cards as we speak.
How much of your net worth is Airbnb stock?
110k Airbnb stock, 100k cash, 50k 401k
Interesting. I almost always don’t count Airbnb stock in net worth since it is not realizable. However, you have nothing to worry about. Your cash balance is impressive.
Net worth is a meaningless number. Why track that at all? More interesting to look at your investments portfolio which could include incoming producing assets.
Net worth is a great place to start, maybe THE place to start. Of course it’s only useful if you then break it down, which you do naturally since you have to have the components to compute it. That’s when you can ask the real questions: “how much debt do I have and when should I pay it off?”, “what am I invested in and is that helping me attain my goals?” “What is my asset allocation and should I invest more or less, buy a house or not, pay off mortgage or not”. Net worth helps me to put those questions into perspective. I guess you’re saying why do the final calculation of adding them all up rather than considering each individual part separately (like investments). I could understand that, but it’s easy to track and satisfying to see it go up, whether through paying debt or investing or home appreciation. Of course if you’re saying sharing net worth on Blind is meaningless without knowing how you got there or where it’s currently invested, and then asking if it’s “good enough”, I agree.
Why do you still have student loans if you have $260k net worth?
I don’t have student loans anymore. Paid them off my first year out of college. But by doing that I wasn’t able to save anything that year
😂😂😂
Average Net worth = Current TC*Age/10
320k * 28 / 10 = 896k
@3rdisyes you must be old as fuck
You're well above average if judging across all industries in the US. For tech specifically I'd say you're fairly average.
YOE? wats the break down of ur TC. overall I think ur way above majority. I the bay u might be medium.
assuming ur comparing urself to tech
5 YOE Year 1: 55k Year 2: 72k Year 3: 78k Year 4: 88k Year 5: 320k
Ur tc is $243K. RSU/4 not per year.
I get 110k RSU per year, 440k over 4 years
