Netflix - working hours
Trying to have an idea of how long is the work day at Netflix as a Data scientist/analyst. Does anyone know? I hear Netflix is extremely demanding, is it true?
9-5, five days a week
Varies by team, but 9-5, 10-4, 8-3 are all schedules I have seen - with freedom and responsibility to take care of things during the day and take vacation. Freedom and responsibility, get your work done, don't abuse freedom, and be available for your colleagues. You'll find yourself naturally putting in hours when you have to and having relaxed time when the workload isn't as high.
Netflix is demanding, but it's about what you produce not how long it takes. If you do great work then you can be a 9:30-4:30 person and maybe an occasional hour or two in the evening or a weekend. I work 40-50 hours a week.
I work typically 50 hr weeks. It’s not much different than other companies I’ve worked before, except I find the work more interesting and challenging.
