Thought I'd share my experience interviewing at Netflix for a non-tech role. They ask about the culture deck at every phase. 1. Netflix recruiter reached out to me and scheduled a phone screen. Described the role and asked whether I'd be interested in interviewing. Also asked for salary expectation, but when I asked for a range they said they pay top of market and were still researching. Thought this was odd, but I guess it makes sense. 2. Immediately scheduled a call with the hiring manager. This call was to get a general understanding of my background, experience. and company culture. 3. Immediately scheduled Virtual Interviews with potential team members. 2 hours of interviews with a break. Questions about previous experience and how you would handle certain situations. Still felt laid back and informal with a lot of repeat questions. Every single person asked about the culture deck. Salary came up again but they still didn't give a number. (Is this normal?) 4. Took more than a week to hear about next phase, but was within the timeframe they originally gave of up to 2 weeks. They offered feedback on the previous round of interviews, which were positive, and told me I made it to the final round, another 2 hours. They still didn't give a number for top of market salary and it's taking forever to schedule this round. Apparently due to WFH things are taking longer. The whole process ends up being around 10 interviews. The final round is supposed to be behavioral questions with directors. I'll update after my final round of interviews. Hope this helps! #netflix
Thanks for sharing. How many days lapsed between phone interview with HM to coordinator / recruiter reaching out to gather your availability for the virtual final round? Phone screener told me I'd be moving to final round right before we hung up and someone would reach out to talk about next steps... But its been radio silence for 7 days 🤫
Got an email within the hour to schedule. I would definitely email if they haven't tried to schedule that day. The actual scheduling after I gave my availability is what took forever, but I always got an email within the hour after a call. For me, the person who called me initiated the email to get availability.
Thanks for letting me know. They seem to like to take their time here... I will have to followup next week. What did they ask from a cultural standpoint? Sounds like the interview was hypothetical, situational, and more informal... As opposed to very behavorial?
Thanks for sharing OP! Very helpful. Would you mind sharing a bit about your background/current role and company? I was looking at strategy and planning roles - looks like most consulting background folks end up there, but had no luck so far.
I know a few people who were scouted by recruiters and they all have different backgrounds. Small companies/firms, large companies/firms, freelancers/independent contractors, junior positions, and senior positions. Honestly don't think your background matters much as long as you can prove you know what you are talking about and you fit the culture and vibe with the interviewer. At least that's the impression I've been getting. I don't want to be identified so didn't share my background or use my main work email but most people I know were found through LinkedIn. I've gotten a lot of views on my Linkedin since the interview process started so I think they put a lot of weight on that. Good luck!
Thanks for sharing! I’m also in process there and it’s been 7 interviews so far with a similar experience to yours. We haven’t talked compensation at all, and there were long stretches between interviews where I didn’t hear from the recruiter so I assumed I was out but am now a finalist. We’ll see how it goes.
Which role?
Location and role?
Any update here, OP? How was the final round?
How long after final round did you get feedback?
