I had my 2nd day of virtual onsite interview with Netflix 2 days ago, imo they went well as during my live coding round the interviewer told me that this is perfect and better than what he was expecting we had more time to discuss some optimization stuff. Another interviewer told me that my responses were absolutely perfect and I answered all the follow up questions he had in my answers before he could get to them. And the behavioral round when I answered things the interviewer told me that this is exactly how we do things at Netflix. But even after all those responses I am not gonna jump to conclusions, because I understand even at times when you have those decent interviews they could be looking for that 1 thing that you are missing. But I heard back from the recruiter today and she told me that the feedback was very positive and went over a lot of positives then asked me about my comp expectation I said I would like to hear what they have to offer without giving any numbers at which she mentioned that she should have some numbers for me by tomorrow. But then she also said we have another interview to wrap up so I will let you know the comp tomorrow. I was really confused by the conversation as to why even jump on a call to tell me this, if they still have more interviews? #anxiety #netflix #tech #interview #onsite #finalround

Google laid off 200+ in core team
What was the behavior question they asked ?
A lot of questions tailored around ownership. Providing and receiving critical feedback. Lots of questions tailored around how you work with other teams, in terms of aligning tasks based on their needs but also staying on track for your team. Questions around aligning your goals with team goals and company goals.
Was these questions asked by HR or Managers/Directors?
There is always another candidate in the pipeline. They know you are great but unsure if they can satisfy you with their offer. Just chill…let them come back to you with a number if they had one.
I am pretty sure with my current TC any tech company can satisfy me with their offer...looool... But thanks, thats helpful in calming my nerves down.
Exactly same thing happens with me in 6 month ago. Turns out when they went to VP for releasing the offer they got to know the position was canceled cause of slowdown and other BS. Even the recruiter I was working with was laid off. It was horrible experience because one day before we literally discussed about comp details and I was somewhat feeling elevated with the money. Lesson learned- with Netflix you can’t say anything till last minute, when you found yourself in team stand up then only believe that yes you have finally joined it.
Can I DM you? Have my full onsite coming up in next 2 weeks, curious about types of questions asked. Ok if you can’t share exact questions due to NDA
+1. I actually still have the tech screen in 4 days. Meta, may I ask what team ? (apparently its very team centric)
Is this for ml or swe?
it means another candidate was probably just as positive in their feedback, and now they are trying to decide how to proceed
Does that also mean that the one who takes lower TC will be their choice?
not necessarily, because we have our own bands in place, and we don’t index what we offer on what the person is looking for i think they are just deciding which strong candidate to continue with
Have you heard back?
Yeah they saying that they had to decide between me and an internal candidate they are going with an internal candidate because they want someone who already has a familiarity with the Netflix ecosystem.
Sorry to hear. Are they going to try and match you with another team?
OP will definitely find better opportunities! Could OP share more details of on-site ML interviews and coding?
It wasn't related to ML. My coding round was directly related to game systems and game SDK's. So like other's mentioned its directly related to the team you are interviewing.
What's your TC and YOE, OP? I want to know so I can learn how to git gud like you
+1
Current TC: 200k YOE: 6 But I have always only been in game industry, and apparently thats a good TC for game industry.
