Why is our country owned by Israel? I don't want my tax dollars fund genocide. How can we stop this nonsense?
I've just accepted an offer for a team under this org. Any Netflixers have interactions with this org or can speak to how it compares to the rest of Netflix? In terms of scope, impact, WLB, etc. Some people are saying it's fantastic, others that I will constantly fear being fired. TC: 300k YoE: 5
How did you prepare for the Netflix interview ?
They’re a good group. Really almost every group is good. Some managers are better than others but the IC’s are all top notch. I’ve never had a problem with anyone. Everyone is always more than happy to help you out. Welcome aboard!
Thanks!
Good group. Smart people. You only have to fear being fired if you're low performing. Where are you based for this TC? Seems low.
Seriously? 300k
Yeah. It's remote and I'm not in a HCOL area. I wasn't blown back by the offer, but at the end of the day, it's a good chunk of change above what I make now, all in cash, and it's not Amazon. Market is competitive as hell and offers are going down across the board. I'm grateful.
Should be fine! Netflix is hiring l4 for the first time so you will get enough mentorship and opportunities to learn and grow. We dont hv PIP culture like amazon. You will be given constructive feedback and time to improve before they finally decide to let you go..
It is fantastic. Lots of people who have been there for a long time so it feels like the same Netflix culture from when I first joined many years ago. Interesting problems. Both can be true, it’s a fantastic group and you can fear being fired (not constantly, but imposter syndrome is real at Netflix). Welcome
That's great to hear. That's the vibe I got during my interviews, everyone having a long tenure seemed like a green flag. I'm glad to hear that others have a great opinion of the org. I've just been getting restless leading up to my start date haha. There's always that bit of uncertainty when you switch jobs.
Any advice for interviewing at Netflix?
Be lucky. Honestly. Getting the interview is the hard part, but I was pleasantly surprised that I was picked because my experience was actually very relevant, not because I can grind out an arbitrary coding challenge that is totally divorced from my potential team.
Eh, half the time those interviews ask fun facts you could easily look up / learn on the job. Not much better to me. Appreciate the insight and GL in your new role
How did you prep for the interview?
I didn't do any specific preparation outside of reading through and internalizing the culture deck. For general interview prep I just did some LC to refresh myself and a lot of system design study.
Is L4 SDE 2 or SDE 1?
That’s a depressing TC. When I worked there, I was making ~450K all cash as an L5.
I'm not in California
When did you work there as an L4? It’s only been in existence less than half a year.
