I asked my friend for a netflix referral and he said "he doesn't have much influence outside his group". Is he lying? Doesn't every company have at least a generic referral program and possibly some benefits to go with it?
It's true he won't have much influence and wont get benefits. But tell your friend to refer you on go/lever if he wants.
Umm I thought Netflix managers have a great degree of latitude in sourcing candidates. Maybe hit a few up on LinkedIn?
Maybe he's not really your friend. In the US it's easy to mistake someone being polite for friendliness.
Talking from my personal experience of course fwiw
He's not lying.

If your team does daily standups, your manager is a micromanager
There are no referral benefits. But yes he can refer you through Lever. It is not well publicized though, if he isn't a HM or on an interview panel he probably doesn't know about Lever.
Really? So the only way is through an external website? He can't just submit through an internal portal or give my resume to a recruiter?
Lever is an internal portal.
