Has netflix interview bar lowered lately? Noticing a lot of mediocre engineers getting in now. TC: 330 YOE: 7
IMO: their interview loop doesn’t really (nor did it in the past) has such a thing as a “high bar”. They are looking for people that think very similarly to themselves (hence why many people call it a cult). Even the leetcode round was like this for me: solve this problem exactly the way I did, or fail. Come up with the optimized solution as the initial solution? Nope, the interviewer doesn’t want that. Do the brute force first then the interviewer will ask you to optimize it and end up with the optimized solution that you already came up with at the beginning of the interview but they didn’t want.
What do they Want? Don’t you optimize brute force?
IMO this is just inexperienced interviewers. They're making you try to guess their password, basically, which is not at all how to tell how someone thinks
Can you explain who "mediocre engineers" are to you?
People working at Nordstrom.
I don't see any ex Nordstrom people at Netflix, so your response is quite stupid, much like asking degenerate questions like you have. Also DM and I'll show you the Amazon offer I rejected. Pathetic.
Netflix is known to take a chance with people who are a good culture fit and technically decent. If the employee doesn’t ramp up in 3 months, they are sent home with a severance
