Netflix: interviewing with multiple teams?

Planning to interview at Netflix. I found several teams that look like a good fit. How many is it reasonable to interview with? Should I go through recruiters or talk to hiring managers directly? I heard different hiring managers might have different processes, not like other companies where you interview once and team matching happens after. Is this true? About me: L5 at Google, 8 years total experience. Strengths: distributed systems, parallel data processing pipelines, storage, server side applications.

Talk to the hiring manager. They set the rules. Recruiters don't do much at Netflix. Managers have all the power to make the decision. This is part of their freedom and responsibility principle at play.

Thank you - this makes sense. My only worry is, if I talk to a few different ones and fail with all of them, it will become a part of my record at Netflix that I’ve been rejected by them, and will be harder to reapply or talk to other teams. Thoughts?

I wouldnt worry about it not working out with one team. We are all about team fit so if it doesn’t work out with one team and there is a better fit elsewhere - the teams will want to find it for you. Also, don’t believe what you hear about the recruiters - they will be your advocate and are heavily involved in evaluation. But it’s ultimately the hiring manager’s decision to hire.
