I don't use Netflix myself, but I know people that do. Everyone shares their damn passwords. Going after something like that, thinking it will bring more subscribers or revenue will backfire hard and make Netflix lose even more subscribers in the end. I know many people cannot afford it, that's why they share. This will just make a big chunk of people stop using Netflix. Mark my words that if Netflix prevents password sharing or overcharges for each extra account, it's over. People will not just be ok paying extra just because Netflix is having issues with money and subscribers. You got to show people that value you overcharge for. Why should they pay extra?
Ok ...can u share ur password with me
No i don't use Netflix.
TC or GTFO then
How would it lose more subscribers? People will be so offended that they can’t let their friends mooch off of them anymore that they’ll say goodbye to Netflix? I’m pretty sure most people I know that use it, which can easily afford it, don’t have their own subscription that they pay for
They won't become subscribers or pay extra. Even if they can afford it theoretically
If two people are sharing passwords and each paying half of the subscription, they might decide to quit rather than each pay a full sub. Netflix is essentially giving up price discrimination, which probably is not a good idea.
If it can reduce the cost of the service. Then it should be ok
Prices never go down, only up
Trust that Netflix would have done plenty of customer research on this
Funny, because they said it's gonna change shortly after earnings. So they only did it for like the last 1-2 months?
Also they don't see the incoming recession, people will stop paying for things like this I'm fairly certain
Netflix will lose revenue with people that aren’t already paying….??
Omg Spotify stfu and lower your prices, you charge more than Netflix and it's just audio streaming
And yes, you will lose those people as a whole, in the end. I know people are sharing the price cost. Not everyone is mooching 1 person. If you raise prices or do other shit, they will be gone.
“You don’t think I can tank the stock again? Hold my beer”
Lighting will strike twice, it seems
All streaming services should offer free service via Ads. Welcome to TV running on the Internet.
That's fine, it works for Spotify. But again it's just audio streaming for them, less cost
What about radio, on the internet?
Perception is reality. Grossly over compensated/rich people at the top trying to save money? Blaming ICs ensues, consumer priority goes down the toilet, and deep investors lose. The story is so repetitive. Netflix overstayed it’s welcome…or didn’t take the onslaught of streamers seriously enough.
The Blockbuster-buster is getting Blockbustered, it seems.
Yep, I know many people including myself that can easily afford Netflix. And I, myself, have used it in the beginning. The convenience factor was high, there were a lot of series I wanted to see. With time, those series went to other streaming services. The value and convenience proposition is not there anymore. It's over for the streaming services as a whole unless they get their shit together and stop being so damn greedy. I propose an all encompassing system or platform that allows you to cross stream, and pays each streaming service according to how much time you spend watching their series. This will weed out both new shitty "Original" series and make sure the quality of series rise, as only quality series will get revenue. Netflix spamming shitty original series isn't of any value to most people, I would assume (and confirmed by the fact a lot are getting canceled now)
“We should go back to pop-up ads, to drive user acquisition.” Probably came up as one of their other brilliant ideas.
They are all about that $$$$$$$
