@apple don’t be a dick
Anyone to paste the full text? Thanks
See internal Open Q&A doc. Reed already responded
Anyone to paste the full text of the Q&A doc? Heh jk of course. Unless?
WSJ: What elements of the Netflix culture are tougher to maintain now that so many employees are working from home? Mr. Hastings: Debating ideas is harder now. WSJ: Have you seen benefits from people working at home? Mr. Hastings: No. I don’t see any positives. Not being able to get together in person, particularly internationally, is a pure negative. I’ve been super impressed at people’s sacrifices. WSJ: It’s been anticipated that many companies will shift to a work-from-home approach for many employees even after the Covid-19 crisis. What do you think? Mr. Hastings: If I had to guess, the five-day workweek will become four days in the office while one day is virtual from home. I’d bet that’s where a lot of companies end up. WSJ: Do you have a date in mind for when your workforce returns to the office? Mr. Hastings: Twelve hours after a vaccine is approved. WSJ: I like that. Mr. Hastings: It’s probably six months after a vaccine. Once we can get a majority of people vaccinated, then it’s probably back in the office.
He doesn't see any positives? That's just idiotic.
Agreed, he just sounds like an arrogant jerk.
I dunno... As much as I've benefitted from WFH, I don't think it's for everyone, or I can stand it for long periods of time
I would be up 1 day WFH and 4 day in the office, after vaccine.
That was what I was doing pre vaccine for the most part anyway as did most of my peers unless there were important meetings. What I’m curious about is if the expectation will still be you need to be in the Bay Area or if being within driving distance of any office is going to be the norm given the exodus we’re seeing.
I already did that pre covid. Plan to double after.
Netflix is not really a tech company.
Linkedin is a job portal company so not really a tech company
More tech than LinkedIn....
Reed Hastings also deems racial discrimination desirable for California. Screw him.
Please explain
My guess would be being okay with rejecting qualified Asians/Asian Americans. But Exabeam could you share a source on that?
guess I'm not applying to Netflix then
You ain’t getting in anyway let’s be real here
😂😂😂😂
Is Netflix considered a media company now? I can’t imagine making a TV show or Movie working from home. Also, “tv show” and “movie” feel like horribly obsolete words for me to write.
Episodic drama?
Hopefully not more movies like Gravity or Phone Booth. Could just about have filmed those from home with a green screen and no actor interaction, but neither was particularly good.
He's right. Not everyone has the ability to be fully productive at home. Not yet anyways. Once holograms and other futuristic ar/vr stuff becomes mainstream there'll be no need for an office at all. But until then in person will always be faster and more efficient.
Haha sucks for you all then; plenty of people have been on the other end in the past. Hope we find good hybrid solutions
Holograms, huh? That’s the ticket!
